Terms of use

Last updated: 16 October 2026

These terms

These terms apply to your use of clearsource.co.za (“ClearSource”, “the site”), which is operated by the operator named in the imprint. By using the site you accept these terms; if you do not accept them, do not use the site.

The site is free: you pay nothing to use it, and nothing is sold on it.

What ClearSource is

ClearSource is an independent guide to Microsoft licensing in South Africa. It is information, not licensing, legal, tax or financial advice. Check Microsoft’s Product Terms and ask an IT partner before you buy.

ClearSource is meant for businesses and other organisations. It does not sell licences and is not a party to any agreement you conclude with Microsoft or an IT partner.

Prices

Prices are Microsoft’s public list prices for South Africa in US dollars, excl. VAT, as Microsoft publishes them on its South African pages, each with its date and source. Some prices are calculated from Microsoft’s pricing rules rather than published by Microsoft (for example a monthly-term price derived from the annual price) and are marked “≈”. A rand figure, where shown, is ClearSource’s own conversion at the European Central Bank’s reference rates of the date stated, for budgeting only; it is not Microsoft’s price.

Prices are shown for information only. They are not offers, quotes or a price at which ClearSource or any IT partner sells. What you pay depends on your IT partner’s quote, the exchange rate and VAT; IT partners often quote lower prices.

Information about IT partners

Information about IT partners comes from public sources, mainly Microsoft’s partner directory and each company’s own website, and is checked against those sources before a company is listed. ClearSource cannot verify everything a company states about itself and does not state a company’s register status. A B-BBEE level is shown only as stated in the company’s own certificate or sworn affidavit; check it with the issuer before you rely on it.

A listing is not a rating, recommendation or endorsement. ClearSource gives no warranty that information about IT partners is accurate, complete or current, and it is not responsible for the goods, services, prices or conduct of any IT partner. Check what matters to you directly with the IT partner before you conclude an agreement.

Accuracy and liability

ClearSource is compiled with care, but it may contain errors or be out of date: Microsoft changes prices, plans and licensing terms, and details about IT partners change. Every price and fact shows its date and source; what applies to you is what Microsoft, Microsoft’s Product Terms and your IT partner’s quote state. Calculated figures (for example a monthly-term price derived from the annual price, or a rand conversion) are estimates, not offers.

The site and its data are provided free of charge and as they are. To the extent the law allows, ClearSource gives no warranty, express or implied, that the site or its data are accurate, complete, current or fit for a particular purpose, and the operator is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of the site, its data or its machine interfaces, or from relying on them.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that the law does not allow to be limited or excluded, including liability for gross negligence, or any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 where that Act applies to you. If a provision of these terms is not allowed by law, it applies only to the extent the law allows, and the rest of these terms remains in force.

Our content and data

ClearSource’s own texts and comparisons, and the IT-partner directory and the datasets as compilations, are protected by copyright under the Copyright Act 98 of 1978. The directory and the datasets are the result of ClearSource’s own research and work. Facts as such are not protected by copyright. Licence names, product data and prices taken from Microsoft remain Microsoft’s; ClearSource claims no rights in them.

You may read, link to, quote short passages with a link to the source, and use the site and its machine interfaces (llms.txt, MCP) for your own information, including through search engines and AI assistants.

Without written permission you may not copy or republish the site or its data wholesale: in particular, you may not mirror or clone the site, copy, scrape, republish or resell the directory or the datasets in bulk, or build another directory or a competing database from them.

Automated access

Search engines and AI services may crawl the site as its robots.txt allows, including to index it, to answer questions with links to their sources and to train AI models. Bulk downloading beyond normal crawling, and attempts to get around rate limits, are not allowed.

Using the site’s content and data to train AI models needs no permission. Where robots.txt admits Common Crawl’s CCBot, ClearSource accepts that copies of its pages appear in Common Crawl’s public corpus, which is used to train AI models. Beyond that, this does not allow republishing the content or data themselves, in full or in substantial part (for example as a mirror or clone of the site, in a published dataset or in another directory); “Our content and data” applies.

Trademarks

Microsoft, Microsoft 365 and related product names and icons are trademarks of the Microsoft group of companies. Company names and logos in the directory belong to their owners. ClearSource is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Microsoft.

External links

The site links to Microsoft, IT partners and other third parties. ClearSource has no control over their content and is not responsible for it. A link is not an endorsement.

Corrections

If something about your company or a price is wrong, tell us through the contact page and we will check and correct it.

Changes

ClearSource may change these terms at any time. The version published on this page applies; the date of its last update is shown at the top of the page.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms and any dispute arising from the use of the site are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. The South African courts that have jurisdiction under the law decide such disputes. This does not limit any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 to refer a dispute to another forum.
